This book is about Jenny Lawson’s journey through her mental health. My concept was a broken doll repaired with gold with flowers coming out of the head. The inspiration behind fixing the doll with gold was a Japanese art form that highlights the flaws of a piece showing that even though things may be broken they can still be beautiful. This art form is called Kintsugi and is briefly talked about in the book. I chose every flower specifically for its meanings. Overall when looking at the piece you see that Lawson sees the broken in her but accepts it as beautiful and actively works to keep her thoughts positive even though her illnesses fight to say otherwise. This book was an inspiration to all struggling with mental illness.
