RTC - 2024-2025 SEASON PLAYBILLS

Revival Theatre Company, based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, had a great 2024–2025 season featuring The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Next to Normal, and La Cage aux Folles. Designing the playbills for this season was no small feat—especially since it was my first time laying out entire booklets like these. It was a crash course in consistency, creative stretching, and thinking way (way) outside the box.
Each show came with about three professional photos—so I had to improvise. Spelling Bee was the first playbill I tackled. Thanks to the season artwork by James Lacey, I had somewhere to start with the visuals. I deconstructed the art— pulling letters, icons and characters—and scattered them throughout the layout to bring it all to life.
After cracking the code, the rest of the season flowed. For Next to Normal, I pulled in pill imagery and silhouetted figures to match the show’s emotional pulse. La Cage let me play with lightbulbs, showgirls, and character silhouettes. It was a challenge, and a huge learning moment, but I’m super proud of how this set turned out!
